Kurt Cobain’s Daughter Frances Bean Weds Son of Pro Skater Tony Hawk
Congrats are in order for newlyweds Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk.
The daughter of late Nirvana singer-guitarist Kurt Cobain and Hole frontwoman Courtney Love married the son of pro-skater Tony Hawk on Oct. 7, a source confirms to Rolling Stone.
The ceremony, which took place in San Diego County, was officiated by none other than R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who’s listed on the marriage certificate with his legal first name, John, the source confirms. Stipe is Cobain’s godfather.
A 31-year-old visual artist and model, Cobain revealed her romance with Hawk, 30, when she returned to Instagram on Jan. 1, 2022, to share her gratitude for special people and moments in her life. One photo in the carousel showed Cobain and Hawk enjoying a boat ride with Tony Hawk and his film producer wife, Catherine Goodman.
“I took a year long break from posting on Instagram which was exceptionally good for my mental, emotional & spiritual health. 2021 brought me more into the present moment than I’ve ever been, which I’m deeply grateful for,” Cobain wrote in the caption to her post. “I wanted to share a few moments that were captured / created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy. Here’s to hoping everyone’s 2022 is filled with authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self 🥂 happy new year.”
In addition to his own skateboarding career, Hawk also is a musician. His band Warish is signed to the independent label, RidingEasy Records.
Attempts to reach reps for the couple and their famous family members were not immediately successful Tuesday. News of the marriage was first reported by TMZ.
