Emma Stone and ‘Poor Things’ Director Team Up Again for ‘Kinds of Kindness’
Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos have seem to hit a stride. The duo that brought audiences 2023’s Oscar-winning Poor Things are joining forces again in new Searchlight Pictures film Kinds of Kindness. The upcoming film is set to premiere June 21.
Though no details of the plot have been revealed, the cast has been shared. Stone will star alongside Jesse Plemons, and reunite with Poor Things co-stars Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley. The Best Actress Oscar winner will also starring alongside Joe Alwyn (who she worked with in The Favourite, another Lanthimos film), Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.
Lanthimos turned to Efthimis Filippou to help co-write the screenplay for the upcoming film. Filippou has co-writer credits on three of Lanthimos past movies: The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Dogtooth.
Kinds of Kindness will be the fifth project Stone and Lanthimos have collaborated on — the pair are currently enjoying the massive success of Poor Things, which one four Oscars this year including Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling. During Stone’s acceptance speech for Best Actress, she emphasized the special bond with Lanthimos and cast: “It’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts.”
