Hayley Williams Has Been Blasting Taylor Swift and Beyoncé’s New Albums, Too
Hayley Williams‘ music taste is top-notch — and on Monday, she shared some of the albums that have been “keeping [her] company” recently.
Among the albums on the Paramore frontwoman’s list were Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift‘s The Tortured Poets Department, both of which she had sweet things to share.
About Bey’s country LP, Williams wrote on Instagram stories: “I cry at the same part of ‘American Requiem,’ every time. Showed my mom and she got chills around the same time. When Beyonce sings, ‘If you ain’t got no grits get the fuck up out the south.'”
“I feel the kind of Southern pride that exists — subversively — amongst hatred and fear,” she added.
Williams also shouted out Swift’s recently released 31-song LP as she celebrated being “tour-mates” for the Eras Tour in Europe this summer.
“Had me from the storytelling alone, my friend,” she wrote about Swift. “Every one of us knows this kind of grief! It’s so impressive to me how specific and colorful Taylor’s words get without ever losing the universal thread.”
Williams also shouted out Brittany Howard’s What Now and said she just wants “to be Brittany’s friend,” Rufus Wainwright’s Want One for being “sweepy and droppy and chorus-line-y,” and Tierra Whack’s World Wide Whack for being her “gym album right now.” Her Instagram story included nods to Radiohead’s The Bends, The Smile’s Wall of Eyes, and Idles’ Tangk, as well.
“Record Store Day was this past weekend and being around people who enjoy music in its sexiest form was like being plugged directly into the sun,” she wrote.
Paramore is set to open for Swift on the Eras Tour, starting on May 9 in Paris, before stopping in cities such as Lisbon, Madrid, Liverpool, and Amsterdam. Her last European dates will be at London’s Wembley Stadium for five consecutive shows.
