Best Things to Buy on Amazon: April 2024
1. Olaplex No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo
I had been using Batiste as my go-to for dry shampoo whenever I traveled (mostly because it’s easy to find at Duane Reade), but I could never seem to shake the white film it left behind in my dark brown hair. In doing research for the best dry shampoos for this guide, I decided to try Olaplex’s No. 4D Clean Volume Detox since the team had gushed about their other products, and now this’ll be the only can I toss in my dopp kit before a flight. After one spray, it left my hair with a clean feeling and a weightless body, and didn’t make my scalp itchy or leave behind any residue. It even worked wonders on my last trip when Florida humidity brought out the frizz and weighed down my hair as soon as I stepped off the plane — I was professional dinner-ready minutes. — Sage Anderson, Commerce Editor
2. Wrangler Wrancher Dress Jeans
“I love your pants!” That’s what I always hear when I wear these Wrangler Wranchers, a stylish cross between classic jeans and dress pants. They have become a go-to for me when I want to dress up a casual look but don’t want to look overdressed. They have a comfortable fit, and unlike standard dress pants, are easy to move around in. I love the classic brown color and their front pleats — which help lend a more retro-yet-timeless look to any outfit. — John Lonsdale, Commerce Editor
3. La Pure 24K Gold Under-Eye Treatment Masks
I’ve been a big fan of these La Pure Gold Under-Eye Treatment Masks for a number of years now and — because they’re just that good — they’ve conveniently made their way into my monthly subscribe and save orders on Amazon. They’re a staple in my skincare routine, and, in fact, I’d even go as far as saying I’ve gotten to the point where I feel like can’t live without them. I keep a pack of them in the fridge and reach for them any morning when I wake up looking like I could use more sleep (which, is generally most mornings). Their cooling effect helps with soothing any puffiness, plus they’re packed with hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil and grape seed extract, so after about 20 minutes of use I’m left with more wide-awake looking under-eyes that feel more hydrated and appear to look a lot brighter. — Jasmin Sandal, Senior Commerce Editor
4. ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ by Patricia Highsmith
When I had two days before a recent trip and needed a new book ASAP, it was a relief to remember that Amazon still does books better than anyone. I picked up the The Talented Mr. Ripley, because I love the 1999 movie adaptation and am looking forward to watching the new Netflix adaptation. The book turned out to be a perfect vacation read. It’s a gripping page turner, like any good murder thriller, but it’s substantial enough that I kept thinking about it weeks later. — Oscar Hartzog, Commerce Editor
5. iWalk Portable Charger
I don’t usually say this, but I’ve become kind of obsessed with this iWalk portable charger. It’s become a power-saver when I need a quick charge on my way out of the door, on commutes, and recently, especially while covering live concerts for Rolling Stone. It easily connects to my iPhone, and I especially love its compact size, making it a cinch to easily stash away in my pocket or keep it connect to my phone while on-the-go. — John Lonsdale, Commerce Editor
6. AirFanta 4Lite Personal Laminar Air Purifier
Personally, I’d consider myself akin to the little suited guy on the Airborne logo when he used to look like death warmed over after flying on an airplane. Recently, I decided to invest in a portable air purifier to take on flights with me, and had hear promising things about the laminar flow purifier, AirFanta 4Lite. “Laminar flow” just means it blows filtrated air directly to the nose and mouth, unlike other purifiers that focus on turning over the air around an entire area. Engineer Adam Wong tested it out and showed that at a 12-inch distance, the number of 0.3 micron particles was 97.9% less than the surrounding environment. It’s still a little pricey for its size, but I’ve used it on two flights in a row now, it’s great for when I unmask to eat or drink, and I haven’t gotten the sniffles yet. — Sage Anderson, Commerce Editor
7. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer
La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair has been my go-to moisturizer for a few years now, and, after a trip to the desert for Coachella, I was reminded how much I love the stuff. It’s lightweight, as always, but when you need serious moisture — like I did in the desert — it delivers, keeping me free of cracks or flakes. — Oscar Hartzog, Commerce Editor
