Kim Petras Cancels Summer Fest Appearances Due to Health Concerns: ‘I’m Devastated’
Kim Petras announced on Wednesday that she will be canceling her upcoming festival appearances this summer due to unspecified health concerns.
“I’m devastated to be writing this but I’m going through some health issues and under medical advice I have had to make the hard decision to not perform at festivals this summer,” the pop star wrote on social media. “I love u so much and I’ll make it up to you and be back better than ever very soon.”
Petras was scheduled to perform at LadyLand Music Fest in June this year (she played at the inaugural LadyLand Festival in 2018), with additional shows at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Mighty Hoopla, and Capitol Hill Block Party. “We are really sad to learn that Kim Petras won’t be able to perform at this year’s edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to welcome her soon to our festival,” the fest wrote in a caption with a repost of her message.
Last month, the singer shared that following the massive success of “Unholy” with Sam Smith reaching Number One in the U.S., she sought therapy. Petras said that “there were more eyeballs on me than ever before,” and that the sudden attention felt “exposing and scary.”
“Therapy was also necessary for me after having a huge song, to learn how to shut everything off,” she told Cosmopolitan U.K. “I had therapy in my teen years and stopped when things got busy. But I missed having someone to let everything out to. I recommend therapy to everyone; it’s an essential tool… The music industry can get very hectic.”
